Full Moon in Paris is a fantastic Rohmer that expectedly features all the typical Rohmer elements: naturalistic dialogue, a distinct lack of non-diegetic sound (until one scene) and deceptively simplistic camerawork. Yet like other Rohmer films (and here I draw a comparison with Hong Sang-soo), although the plot sounds like every other Rohmer film, Full Moon in Paris transcends its similarities and presents an immersive and intriguing philosophy behind the film’s content while uncovering the nature and features of human interaction. Also, Pascale Ogier is fantastic… She did not deserve to die at that age.
