wasn't as strong as the first GitS imo and I wasn't a huge fan of the 3d animations thrown in throughout, but still a very enjoyable film
And now I see the world closer through Batou, and I appreciate it more than through Kusanagi.
A bit laboured and obvious in its attempts at philosophical depth, but still very good.
R.H. Marcellin is a moron it does not stop at Descartes it moves onto the functionalist philosophy. "Forced philosophical quoting". The works of kant would not be called false philosophical quoting because the text itself is a work of philosophy the same may be said of ghost in a shell
Tries hard to question the audiences preconceptions of "consciousness" and as to whether anything really differentiates humans from machines (souls, ethics, Descartes etc) but fails since it bludgeons you over the head with non stop forced philosophical quoting. The plot is secondary to any philosophical points Oshii wants to posit, turning a could-be dystopian thriller with soul (blade runner) into an empty shell.
This sequel wasn't too bad, but the first movie dominates anything this one tried to do.
In my opinion the second Ghost is almost an unvolontarily parody of the first one (too many philosophical quotes, too slow, etc.)
I am a huge fan of the first film but this one is just too full of itself. The animations are beautiful of course, but the plot is way too simple and half the movie is spent on landscapes and overloaded action sequences that have no reason to be. I know the guys who did the animation for the first one are good at it, but they didn't needed to do this movie just to show off even more.
continue your goal, as you reach to success making another anime movies and tv series..
