Synopsis

A budding actress in Knoxville, Tennessee is hired to help bust a union-organizing effort, but in her eagerness to take her first paying role, Gina ignores the ethical dimensions of her job and gets in over her head. Ultimately, through her decisions (and mistakes), Gina discovers something about herself and about integrity in the face of ambition.

Filmed on location in Paul Harrill’s hometown of Knoxville, Gina, An Actress, Age 29 articulates its regionalism through its unhurried pacing and its sensitivity to the economics of place.

This film reminds me of something that Terry Crews said in the DVD extras for "Gamer."

Nice little film- good structure and pared-back script, with good performances. Simple but kept me watching- We are left hanging- not really knowing if the bow was intentional or not. I like that.

I appreciated the local color and general understatement. Reminded me a bit of Jonathan Demme's work of the late 70s and early 80s.
