It’s been a long time since I’ve seen this and I really feel bad for ever saying it isn’t good. While it’s not flawless, it comes pretty close and is very much the Spartacus of its time. Ridley Scott and Russell Crowe make a great team and show their devotion to movie making, blending a historical epic with a very tragic story of a man without anything left to lose. The action sequences are well done, of course, but I think the dramatic scenes are shot just as well. It’s not my favorite movie from Ridley Scott, it’s up there.
