on the other hand 'Buy the Ticket take the Ride' was a muuuuch better documentary about Hunter S. if anyone is interested!
This had the potential to be a masterpiece about an incredible and iconic man.. but it was an average documentary with horrible 'flash back' scenes. I did not like it!

Great breakdown of the writer's life and times but perhaps not ambitious enough in it's structure. I agree with previous comment - a little too much reliance on footage from Gilliam's film when covering that period of his life. Altogether, I agree with some of the final points made by the film...we could have really done with a Hunter S. Thompson over the past few years... imagine Fear and Loathing on Wall Street!
I had this film on my laptop for quite a while and I just didn’t put myself watching it, I regret that I didn’t saw it earlier, really. What can I say, one of the best documentary I’ve ever seen. It makes you laugh, it makes you think, it makes you fell into it. It’s one hell of a piece.
Really good an comprehensive documentary on Hunter that somehow still left me a little cold. Not sure why. Highly recommended for fans of his work.
I thought this was a fairly good documentary, but it could've spared the Johnny Depp readings and footage of "Where the Buffalo Roam" and "Fear and Loathing". On another note, Hunter was a very attractive guy when he was younger... As he got older he started looking like the Dalai Lama. Y/N?
