Good-for-nothing

Leaving his familiar surroundings, the Good-for-nothing wanders south. He ends up in a château near Vienna, where he works rather unenthusiastically in the garden and as a toll-keeper, and falls in love with the lovely Aurelie, whom he takes for a countess; but he moves further, to Italy, where the inhabitants of another château take him for a girl, he finds out the meaning of the ‘starving arts’ and after several adventures eventually goes back to his beloved in Austria, where life as a sober citizen awaits him. He becomes master of a steam mill, for society cannot leave a free-ranging fool and anarchist uncontrolled. —ardvideo.de
