Goodbye, Columbus

Based on the writings of acclaimed author Philip Roth, this touching satire examines the boundaries of class, race and religion through the turbulent romance between a poor, Bronx-born librarian and an upper-class Jewish-American princess. Richard Benjamin and Ali MacGraw star alongside television legend Jack Klugman (“The Odd Couple,” “Quincy M.E.”) in director Larry Peerce’s feature film debut.
Read somewhere this was as good as The Graduate. And although it does have some redeeming features (the first phone call Benjamin and McGraw have is fantastically trusting of Roth's source material) and is fairly risque for its time, it's still a little clunky, especially in the production design which tends towards Brady Bunch.
