Quite possibly the best time I had at the movies! The 3-hour cut version is the essential viewing of Grindhouse. The great thing about this movie is that both Rodriguez and Tarantino understand the exploitation cinema of the 70s and 80s. The fake movie trailers in-between are hysterically creative, and you can tell they had fun making them. This movie is immensely entertaining and undeniably cool to watch.

they don't really undertsand how to make a grindhouse movie though. Budgets were too big, ideas were too extravagant and egos running wild.Homage or not, could have been better

Honestly only Eli Roth of all people understood how to approach this with his Thanksgiving trailer. The rest were muddled, most likely due to their higher up status at the time. Roth was a the lower man, and closest to bringing in the pure aspect of the grindhouse era.

One of my top ten movie-going experiences. There's nothing like hearing an entire theater groan and squirm during some of the more gory parts.

Missed it in theaters (came and went almost overnight where I live) and have been waiting to see the complete "Grindhouse" theatrical experience with all the trailers intact. I've refused to buy (or even watch) the separated, expanded "director's" cut DVD releases (with no trailers). I want the original theatrical experience my first time. Now that it's finally(!) been released on DVD & Blu-ray in the States, I can.

As far as I'm concerned, this movie accomplished exactly what it set out to do, and I love it for that.

It was a lot of fun to watch in a theater. Just a pity it didn't last longer in its theatrical run.
