I do totally know what you mean, but surely saying it like that isn't going to make any of them stop to consider that you might have a point :)
What the fuck did I just watch? I mean it was very good and the imagery was fantastic but like... what the fuck was that?
When the boy in the bunny constume glides on the empty street. A sight to behold...
Some will consider it brilliant, some will just wanna throw up. It's that type of movie.
Ya'll should watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_uZgJapYmEI&feature=player_embedded#!
This is an easy movie to hate, and a tough film to even appreciate. But it is one of those rare movies that gives you an unique, unforgettable experience. I cherish films where a director simply forgets about trying to make something commercial and allows his imagination to run free. Even if it goes to such dark extremes as this.
How can American society be so stupid and degradated? The movie itself is not bad, the first scene is "artistic cool", but it´s nothing but a waste of time. Another independent American film. Another movie to shock. Chloe Sevigny and her typical roles. *I´m not missing the whole point as some people may say. I am only tired of these "innovative, rare, amazing" films.
People who don't like this film for whatever reason are bourgeois assholes. People who don't recognize the relevant analysis of our society in this film are just plain stupid.

For anyone in London, there's a double VHS screening of Gummo and Trash Humpers on Sunday Nov 6th at 6pm at The Shacklewell Arms in Dalston, east London. More info here - http://www.shacklewellarms.com/listings/eventdetails/6-nov-11-harmony-korine-double-bill-the-shacklewell-arms/ and www.stilladvance.wordpress.com... Should be interesting!
Still great on fourth viewing. White trash can be scary and poignant. More here than meets the eye.
oh my... what a crazy gross stuff - real white trash !!! zero story, but very funny & entertaining..!
Gummo’s fractured narrative, linear and repetitive, is a prime example of the search for the Herzog image. Apocalypse and destruction at every turn. Depressing, overwhelming, disgusting and somewhat beautiful in its terror. Béla Tarr would show pride at such an existential nightmare, this small town American disaster. Korine has created something horrifying, brutal and honest.
The scene in the bathtub with the kid having lunch, that scene will stay with me forever.
