The journey of a young Indian woman’s hair, donated to a temple to be then converted into exquisite hair extensions in Italy. This same hair will then return to India to satisfy the whim of a successful career woman in Bombay. A story of the cult of beauty in the era of globalisation. An original view of today’s India with its contradictions. A kaleidoscope of modernity, economic expansion and ancient traditions. —mostra.org
I saw this movie at the Stratford movie festival, and I hadn't expected much. Although my film interest was not at peak, I really enjoyed this documentary. It opened my eyes to another industry I hadn't really thought of...the beauty industry. What I found peculiar(but none the less interesting) was how a Indian rituals end up contributing to the North American culture (hair extensions).
