Bourne Idenity goes female. That is what everybody will tell you when you watch this film and is think they are right. Of course, the director flexes his talent every now and then and some shots are really nice and beautfifl, not only because Saorise Ronan is a haunting screen presence. But every other minute, the film derails into a non-sense cat & mouse game with lots of fighting and unnecessary roughness in between which does not get contextualized at all. The bad guys have no motivation whatsover apart from being just bad people, running around and killing everyone.

Cate Blanchett is a fantastic acress and she gives the film some more edge and depth than it deserves. Especially the German villains are borderline racist, skinheads and homosexuals, what the fuck guys ?

Anyway, not my cup of tea, it attempts to add some spice and poetry to the Bourne-Genre but it only ever succeeds in scratching the surface and showing Ronan’s face in a close-up all the time cannot save the fact that there is no script.
