That sly Hal Ashby! I've seen this movie many time and I'm still not completely in love with this movie due to some poor directing choices (underdeveloped mother and son relationship) but god damn, this is a beautiful movie to look at! Real emotional imagery. The soundtrack is cool too.

It's like the Graduate cept more absurd-- ergo I fucking love this film. I can't believe this was my first time watching it. That montage at the end is probably one of the greatest and most powerful of all time.

This is definitely one of my favourite movies of all time. During the last scenes, when 'Trouble' starts playing, I always have to cry even if I already watched it for about 10 times. It's so moving. An amazing & unique (love-)story, great actors (of course the young Bud Cort & the cute Ruth Gordon, but also Vivian Pickles) & fantastic music, thanks to Cat Stevens. "Harold loves Maude .... and Maude loves Harold" <3

truly brilliant i loved the main character and i loved the relationship between him and maude, this is a true classic which im glad ive seen. I would consider this film to be classed as a dark comedy because its not a drama and its not a comedy but it does have alot of drama and great dark comedy also i can see the influences its had on Submarine and the music by cat stevens is great. and Also of course great acting.

I was introduced to this film by a friend who was excited to share it with me. Last night, I returned the favor for another friend who enjoyed the experience. I think this film is about the relationships between humans, expectations, and realities. Not only is the story empathetically evocative, so is the nature of discovering and sharing the film itself.

Harold and Maude is a dark comedy that is a cult classic. Harold is young but hates life. Maude is old but loves to live life on the edges. This movie is very funny and very clever.This movie has the great music of Cat Stevens and Ruth Gordon in her finest performance.This film belongs in a time capsule because its message is universal.Live your life to the fullest even if others find you eccentric.

Def. detect Wes A., Coen Bros, Alex Cox humor here. Asby cetainly knew where to put the camera. But, like Last Detail, the rebel-liberator has some serious shortcomings when applying his/her idealism to reality. Where can Harold go to be free? How can he eat? Hard to live on mtn-tops. Is counterculture only fantasy-escapism? Is pursuing a unique, out-of-the-ordinary life suicide? Can you get out of the matriarchy?

I've seen this film about 10 times. Bud Cort is incredibly funny in certain scenes but I don't want to say what they are. And he really clicks with Ruth Gordon. This film is a must-see.
