Synopsis

The classic stage hit gets the Hollywood treatment in the story of Elwood P. Dowd who makes friends with a spirit taking the form of a human-sized rabbit named Harvey that only he sees (and a few privileged others on occasion also.) After his sister tries to commit him to a mental institution, a comedy of errors ensues. Elwood and Harvey become the catalysts for a family mending its wounds and for romance blossoming in unexpected places. –IMDb

Henry Koster

Henry Koster (May 1, 1905 – September 21, 1988) was born Hermann Kosterlitz in Berlin, Germany. He became a film director and later moved to Hollywood. Koster’s father, a salesman, left home when Henry was a young man. Koster still managed to finish gymnasium (high school) in Berlin while working as short story writer and cartoonist.

Delightful comedy with lots unmitigated laughs. A couple of fine acting turns from Josephine Hull and Stewart, not to mention Hollywood's only six foot three and a half inch tall Pooka... and how are you, Mr. Wilson?

Right now Im admiring this man up here and admiring Mary Chase, the comedy's screenplayer. No big emotions but full of heart and grace and humour. Thanks to the ones who share the piece. This time thanks to Arsenale, Pisa. Harvey's to be seen in TV! As often as Stargate was...

Falls apart a bit towards the middle of the third act, but still a really fun movie, and pulls itself back for the very end. James Stewart is great, as usual. Really wish he and Cary Grant were still around today.
