Some people choose the hardest way to live/change. "If you want to end your life, end it. You don't have to kill yourself to do that."
Hits a lot of the cliche'd notes you'd expect it to hit, but it was a fascinating, entertaining film.
What a surprise! Here's a film that constantly defies the audience's expectations. Right when traditional romantic (comedy?) elements seem to set in (albeit mostly among chaos) it almost becomes a different more melancholy film entirely, capping things off in a bittersweet fashion.Though taking into account the first half, its certainly punkiest rom com I've seen. Masterpiece
I liked it, but tell me the cinematography doesn't make it look like an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm...
It tells much about the cultural conflicts of the Turkish youth and their conservative families living in Germany and I think, Akin is pointing out the identity of the female character Sibel whom grown up in that society and her journey in finding the freedom and love then the disappointment of losing it so soon. Good soundtrack, brilliant film.
