Amazingly put together, almost defining what it meant to be an american. Thought the cuts to college football were especially powerful.

Cutting back and forth between US military officials and Vietnam civilians during the Vietnam war, Hearts and Minds paints of a picture of the separation between those on the sidelines of war and those directly affected by its horrors.

A story of manipulations. And nobody, or no country, had the courage to take the responsibility of all these deaths and destroyed lives. Just a sum of diminished responsibilities. Shame.

Paraphrasing Ellsberg: It's a tribute to the American people that five presidents felt they had to lie to promote the war in Vietnam. Not sch a tribute that the lies went down so easily.

One of the best documentaries I have ever seen, engaging and emotional from start to finish.

Many liberal pundits are drawing distinctions between the early 70s and the 20-teens in America. Two unpopular wars- one that was lied about, and one that has been resolved- that will only be continued due to American Empiralism without giving a damn about the consequences to human life. As an American, it makes me sad to find America keep making the same mistakes. Again.

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, signifies in the final sense a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed." ~Dwight D. Eisenhower~

It was one of the finest documentaries I've ever seen and was just devastating. It shows you in a great way, that the Vietnam war was a war for Micky Mouse. This stupid war against communism has contributed in laying down roots for the so called Islamic terrorism, as they call it. These groups were first armed by the US to fight back communism in their countries as local forces, just like Taliban, and through time, they took more power and went out of hand. It's not a big deal realizing so many wars have happened for nothing and so many people have got killed for nothing especially in Vietnam. The big deal is to realize history always repeats itself, and right now at this moment so many innocent women and children and citizens in general are getting killed everywhere, in Afghanistan, Iraq and so on. Regardless of nationality, race and religion humans are all equal and entitled to decide about their countries fate, and no healthy mind accepts interfering in other nations leaderships under any banner, whether it's war against terrorism, communism etc. It has not ended, and it won't end, the least we can do is to be aware, and not get infected by the widespread virus of ignorancy that is being injected into societies by the media. Awareness is the key. 5 stars out of 5.

Way ahead of it's time. Before Errol Morris, Michael Moore, and Nick Bloomfield ever picked up the camera Peter Davis -like Alain Resnais before him- set the benchmark for documentary film making.

so powerful and moving, you'll want to watch it again and again but feel uncomfortable about wanting to every time.
