One of the very most disturbing films I’ve ever seen. I do not use these words lightly, nor can I stress them enough.The exercise of restraint by Walsh (screenwriter) and Jackson (director/screenwriter) is a new level of impressive. They use EVERYthing in their arsenal to push the tension past familiar territory. The film provokes the mind in its slow path, utilizing the occasional unique, fantasy world visuals to illustrate the imaginations of its young protagonists. Heavenly Creatures builds and builds to a breaking point that you will never forget, but may not want to recall. I’m somewhat glad I never saw this on the big screen.
