Synopsis

At the World Livestock Auctioneer Championships in New Holland, Pennsylvania, contestants test their verbal skills and speed. Beyond the competition and an interview with the winner, Herzog also touches on the Amish population located in the area. —Thessaloniki International Film Festival

One of the most influential filmmakers in New German Cinema and one of the most extreme personalities in film, Werner Herzog quickly gained recognition not only for creating some of the most fantastic narratives in the Film history, but for pushing himself and his crew to absurd and unprecedented lengths, again and again, in order to achieve the effects he demanded. Weirdly funny to me, and the auctioneers in action remind me of Brahmin priests chanting their way through rituals - no one understanding a word! :D

Disclosure: I put on my winged Japanese headphones and lay down and closed my eyes and just listened to these hypnotic MCs. They're full-on mutants, every single one. Go try it, this is on instant streaming.

A film with John Denver's Country Roads as musical score deserves 3 stars at the least. I also enjoyed the Pennsylvania countryside and the Amishes. Good documentary but nobody spoke about the cows. They looked very sad.
