In a nutshell, HUMAN ZOO tries to be Tarantino, Besson, and soft-core porn all at the same time.
Not great by any stretch. Some seriously sloppy direction, a poor choice in cast (especially that pompous American douchebag), an awful and unfitting soundtrack, and a terribly inconsistent tone that ranges from romantic melodrama to outrageous shlock. That's without mentioning a key scene in which a man's finger is bitten off with one bite. Still, it has it's moments, as few and far between as they are.
Tarantino says Rie Rasmussen has made “an electrifying directorial debut.” And Alexandre Rockwell returns to mixed reviews.
