watching, and the reviews here look good...
Every time I look at Sydney Pollack in that still I see Erland Josephson
In spite of its fine performances and possibly due to my own unmet expectations, I found this overall a rather tepid effort.
I love this movie so much. Huge inspiration.
Same old... Didn't like it... :S
Unless he lets another gem loose within the next few years, this may be Allen's last masterpiece.
I wish Juliette Lewis wasn't in this.
An exquisitely written and performed film with some really left of centre Allen directorial decisions. The jump cuts and hand held camera is strange given the context, but make no mistake this is class act Woody Allen comedy/tragedy. A film about marital and relationship expectations, temptation and failures all perceived through an obvious psychoanalytic interview presentation. The ensemble cast is as always great.
One of Allen's better late films.
amazing writers, real characters....amazing performance by judy davis. I can totally see why she won best supporting actress. one of the best movies I've seen about relationships, right up there with Woody's Manhattan.
Quite beautifully written and acted. Did appear to run out of ideas towards the end, but was enjoyable throughout. Was hilarious to see that Allen appears to write all his male characters essentially the same way.
Absolutely his best. The fight between Judy Davis and Sydney Pollack with poor bemused Liam Neeson looking on is one of the best movie arguments I've ever seen.
Without a doubt my favorite Woody Allen picture.
