Children’s film, set in Iceland many centuries ago. Boas, the eleven-year-old son of a priest, lives in a fishing village on the north coast. It has been a hard winter during which the fisherman have not been able to put out to sea. Evil spirits are blamed. One day an ice floe drifts to the coast bearing a strange boy whom the villagers take to be a demon. But Boas rescues him, and the two escape on the ice floe – from which they are finally picked up by a Norwegian ship and that brings them home again. It turns out that the boy is a Eskimo, blown by a storm from Greenland to Iceland. —British Film Institute
