It would have been pleasurable enough to witness the cast of S. Ray's 1970 classic Days and Nights in the Forest, to which this film is both a sequel and a remake, reprise their roles, but credit goes to Ghose for crafting a poignant, humanistic piece of work with them that, while not quite "Mozartian", resonates nearly as deeply with its socio-political implications.
