Synopsis

Incident by a bank is a detailed and humorous account of a failed bank robbery: A single take where over 96 people perform a meticulous choreography for the camera. ”Incident by a bank” recreates an actual event that took place in Stockholm back in June 2006; it’s an observation in real-time and a study of how people act and react to the unexpected. It won the Golden Bear for best short film at Berlinale in 2010.

Director

Ruben Östlund

Ruben Östlund was born in 1974 on Styrsö. He went on to study film at the University of Gothenburg. His feature debut The Guitar Mongoloid won the FIPRESCI Award at Moscow in 2005. Involuntary followed in 2008 making its premiere in Cannes’ Official Selection. His third feature film Play, pursues his exploration of group dynamics and their effect on individual behavior. –Quinzaine des Réalisateurs
