Indiana Jones. The Last Crusade. The movie they should really have ended with.

“The Last Crusade” is the brilliant finale of a fantastic series. Yes there is a fourth one, yes it isn’t very good. Harrison Ford once again gives a performance worth mentioning in this film, and instead of smooching and worrying about the leading lady, he has to learn how to deal with his father. The father/son story is perhaps the most defining relationship in the film. It is refreshing to watch a movie with a different story structure and character interaction. Sean Connery truly made the film. A fantastic performance, and every bit believable as Indy’s father. The comedy that Ford and Connery brought to this film brightens the journey and makes a great, fun ride. Alison Doody was perfect for the double-crossing, no good but sweet, femme fatale, and perhaps the greatest is, she seduced both the Jones’s. In my opinion, Glovers villainous portrayal was lacking. I felt like the story shorthanded him as a serious villain, but i suppose something had to be sacrificed for the great father/son interaction. General Vogel was a much more menacing and true villain. Despite it’s few weak points, having Sallah and Marcus back in the adventure is great. And the tank chase and battle is epic. Overall, with good action, good story, and some great characters, “The Last Crusade” is a very worthy adventure film with a big heart and moving story. The end will blow you away.
