I won’t give too much away, but let’s just say I felt ‘Infernal’ was the more poetic. I can only think of a handful of shots in Scorcese’s rendition where I felt jolted emotionally or began to question morality of certain characters. I believe Scorcese’s visceral blunt, Irish(?) style contrasted sharply with the calm, “anti-Woo”(words of David Bordwell) sensibilities of Lau and Mak.

A heads-up to anyone curious about checking out the Region 1 blu-ray recently released by Lionsgate: the picture quality is *terrible*. I think it somehow looks worse than my Chinese DVD. One of the most disappointing viewing experiences I've ever had. But "Infernal Affairs" remains one of the best Hong Kong films of the past decade. I've seen it at least four times now and enjoy it every time.

This is a great film, all in all,but the acting doesn't match up to the acting that The Departed had.4 out of 5 stars.

Perhaps it's because of the significantly higher budget and the access to 'a-list' actors with far more experience. Infernal affairs is a raw and visceral movie, and the acting matches it. The departed is cold and bland, and the acting matches it

I give five stars even though I was bored watching this movie... Because of this goddamn Scorcese who just made the exact replica of this one. So yeah, it deserves at least the same grade. But as usual originals are much better than remakes.

Thank you Sexy Batman, you always save the day thanks to your skills to spot non-english speakers and to reveal their lack of capacity to speak correct English. Sexy Gotham City needs you.

Infernal Affairs has an interest cast and a better plot, that would later get adapted into a remake directed by motherfucking Martin Scorsese, the weak elements of Infernal Affairs get better in The Departed (the soundtrack, characters and dialogs) But anyway, both are impressive crime films that should be watched at least once.

Despite a strong script and the always brilliant Andy Lau, whilst watching this movie I found myself hoping this would get a remake so that a finer, more tense, less cheesy film could be made of this brilliant premise. Lo-and-behold, the Gods of Hollywood were listening to my prayers that day. www.foec.wordpress.com

A decent crime film with the HK feeling. Pales in comparison with remake The Departed, though (characters are three-dimensional and direction is much better in the Scorsese version).

Good film, though it feels like a first draft compared to The Departed, which had the benefit of being rewritten. It also lacks emotional subtlety: it practically telegraphs to the audience when to cry.

Taken as an individual work, its average at best as it lacks resolution and a fully developed plot. As a trilogy though, I was very impressed with how well the whole story and its containing characters were pieced together.

I thought this was much better than the remake. Especially how they end it. There I said it.
