An excellent script by director Zeki Demirkubuz which follows a recently released long incarcerated man as he struggles to make a place for himself in the world. A crime of family honour led to his jail time and he soon finds himself involved in a love triangle of sorts and as a possible salvation for a mute child. Though often putting one ill at ease the film is a masterful look at choice and behaviour.
Guven Kirac gives a moving, nuanced performance as a lost soul,in a film where characters move the story forward.People living from day to day,not usually seen.
Very strong movie, I'm going to watch the sequel: Kader soon. Changed my three-star rating to four.
Did you know there is a connection between Kader (Destiny -http://mubi.com/films/21413) and Masumiyet (Innocence)? In Masumiyet, Yusuf meets a couple Ugur and Bekir in a hotel and becomes part of an extraordinary love triangle (as synopsis goes). And, although released 10 years later, Kader is about how the obsessive relationship between Ugur and Bekir started when they were young.
