I had a strong dislike for JUNO, but I really wanted to like Diablo Cody’s sophomore outing as a writer, JENNIFER’S BODY…it looked like it could be a smart MEAN GIRLS meets SUSPIRIA type of movie. Unfortunately Cody’s script feels like a first draft and Karyn Kusama is an inept, flavorless filmmaker. The movie has its moments, Megan Fox is quite creepy and does a lot with her thin role, considering how her screen time is inadequate to say the least. A lot of aspects to the story make no sense, a lot of opportunities are lost, and there just isn’t enough there. JENNIFER’S BODY is a watchable movie, but it’s not a good one, and it’s sad because it really could’ve been one of the more interesting horror movies of the year.
