With his gift of dream interpretation and his brilliantly colored coat, Joseph (voiced by Ben Affleck) inspires jealousy in his brothers and is sold into slavery in this animated retelling of the story from the Bible’s Book of Genesis. Featuring first-rate animation and voice work from Affleck, Mark Hamill and Jodi Benson (The Little Mermaid), this family-friendly tale manages to stay wholesome without being preachy.
Never has there been a more accidentally annoying main character than this Joseph... "I'm a miracle child!" are probably not the words to be saying when there is a threat your jealous brothers will be selling you into slavery. It feels like the source material was rather episodic, and the film feels like that as well. There is no clear conclusion (what about the 7 bad years?) and historical accuracy is whitewashed.
