Another mesmerizing performance by the great Tilda Swinton in this well written and directed film by Erick Zonca. A darker take/homage to Cassavetes' 'Gloria' that isn't afraid to dwell on the darker side of human nature. The ending ultimately a bit of a let down but the two and half hours getting there very satisfying. Is there anything Swinton can't do?
Tilda is such a treasure! This picture is such a breath of fresh air, it is really a provoking picture, its dirty and ugly at times. But yet it has this power that it just grabs you and makes you see this character's reality. The ending is so fantasic it left me really wanting her to get want she wants, she wins you over, when in fact its wrong on what she has done. It's just a great film.
A pesarde la buena actuación de Tilda Swinton,el film se pierde con sobreactuaciones de los actores mexicanos, y una dirección muy plana.
This was a horrid, depressing film. When it was over, I was torn between wanting to drink myself to death and never drinking again. I questioned whether my companion's suggestion to watch it was an attempt to send me off into a downward spiral. Yet, it was well done. Visually stunning, well acted. Absurdly, yet believably, convoluted. Four stars, worth watching. I was moved after all. . . Though, thankfully, I shook it off.
I must say, it's an excellent performance by Swinton. Intriguing and moving. Quite good story of a going downhill alcoholic person. Just watch&see.
Tilda Swinton was astounding in this film. Mind-blowing. Once again she proves she's the most versatile, fascinating, inspiring actress of today.
Feels like 4 movies in one, but maybe that's not such a bad thing. It's got energy and style to spare.
