Ji-gu is a 15-year-old juvenile offender under probation who lives with his ailing grandfather. When he is caught committing a crime, he is sent to the juvenile reformatory. Upon his grandfather’s passing, Ji-gu is reunited with his mother — whom he believed to be dead. Together they set out to make up for lost time. –TIFF
Kang Yi-kwan studied sociology at Korea University before attending the Korean Academy of Film Arts. He worked as an assistant director and made short films prior to his first feature film, Sa-kwa (2005), which won the FIPRESCI Award at the Toronto International Film Festival and Best New Screenwriter Award at the San Sebastian Film Festival. His latest feature film Juvenile Offender (2012) premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival.
