Adapted from Lawrence’s novel about his life in Australia, this AFI-winning period drama sees novelist Richard Somers (Colin Friels) and his wife (Judy Davis) abandon the emotional sterility of Europe in the early ’20s for a new life in Australia. The couple are captivated by a newfound openness and hospitality, but are soon enveloped in a web of political intrigue, adultery and murder.
