Watched these two for the first time as a double feature and absolutely loved every minute of the 4 hours. Tarantino has a completely unique way of putting his personality into every single one of his films, and everyone I have seen has been a masterpiece in my eyes. His best is without a doubt Reservoir Dogs, but every one of his films is stylized with fantastic writing and they always make for an energetic viewing.
As for Kill Bill, Tarantino let loose. They are a straight thrill ride from start to finish and when the credits rolled I was ready for part two because I had such a good time with part one. The differences between them are subtle so I’m giving them both the same score, but they do two different things well in each of them. The first is a more stylized action martial arts film with little backstory and a ton of blood. While the other takes a more patient tone, flushing out any backstory you could want while staying clear on what it’s trying to accomplish. They both come together wonderfully leaving that bitter sweet taste of revenge in your mouth.
