Filmmaker Rodolphe Marconi explores the life and work of iconic fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld in this fascinating documentary that offers an inside look at the man behind the white ponytail, huge dark sunglasses and enigmatic air. Following Lagerfeld for two years, Marconi reveals not only the style innovator but also the photographer; the intellectual art, literature and film aficionado; the marketing genius; and the showman.
i watched it and the minute i finished, i forgot what i was looking at for almost 2hrs. result = killed some braincells. felt like 1st grade student project.
Followed him for two years and that is all he managed to produce?! The director seems to have been completely overwhelmed by his subject. His interview questions were so standard, so poorly formulated, and sometimes so archaic that Lagerfeld had to cut him most of the time. This was a messy mix of music, pointless monologues and slice of life clips. A waste of time. "Signé Chanel" is a much better documentary.
