One of the most touching films ever. About pain and love. About our common destiny. As Fini Straubinger puts it to people with the same problem(s) as herself, our common fate is what creates a de facto brotherhood among people.
On a second level of understanding, the title of the film can also refer to feelings of guilt: the accident Fini had as a young girl (that led to her deaftness and blindness) might have had much smaller consequences for her health if she had not been ashamed to tell her mother about it. The fear of disclosing a so-called “naughty” behavior (which caused the accident) to her mum made her choose silence. For in her eyes, her mother was blind enough not to see that all this girl wanted was to have as joyful a life as possible.
