Sometimes I like to knock on my desk or wall or something in the same rhythm as the prisoners in this film banging on the concrete in their cell. I swear this is the freshest prison film I’ve ever seen and probably will see (100x better than Shawshank and a million times better than the Great Escape). I can’t believe they actually show them digging the hole right from the beginning, and that feeling I get watching it is precisely why I watch films. I’m guessing it’s the great crushing noises that builds my exuberance. Or maybe the fact that they’re polite, respectable men trying to escape the metaphorical hole women have thrown them in by the misandric system built by the rise of radical feminists because they can’t deal with mother nature.
This movie also makes me wanna eat bread. You just see them all huddled up eating and ask yourself, why aren’t me? You know what I also enjoyed? The magnificent camera work and direction of my main man Becker! I enjoyed that too! The thing I liked about the escape near the sewers was that you actually get a feel of the layout of the place, especially after Manu and Gaspard return after getting a glimpse of the streets. And those corridors, I can’t get them out of my head thanks to that long shot of them walking in the dark (reminds me of that scene in Werckmeister Harmonies). I just can’t get this movie out of my head.
