it used to be all style and no content, now it has neither. very overrated movie
i saw this when i was a child and fell in love with Natalie Portman. Not much has changed.
Superb performances and development of an unexpected bond.
My favorite movie. have seen it many times.
Lempielokuvani. Olen katsonut elokuvan monta kertaa.
i thought the fact that natalie portman at such a tender age was involved in this movie was kind of disturbing. and also the fact that she's too precocious. (if there is ever such a thing called too precocious)
This is real chemistry, with Bjork's Venus As A Boy in the background.
Totally agree with Stansfield's music taste.
Leon: the professional...awesome! Jean Reno, young Natalie Portman and Gary Oldman. they're cool with the guns
Personally, my only "viewing expectations" were of something with a reasonable amount of intelligence and I was completely let down. Everyone overacts, the script is sloppy to the point of idiocy and thematically the damn thing is all over the place. Never let it be said that Luc Besson can't shoot one hell of an action scene, though.
If your viewing expectations are limited to straightforward action, this film is not for you. Action is only the pretense here. Because of this, I love it. I hope those who haven't yet seen it will feel something similar. It's incredibly beautiful and I still get goosebumps thinking of Reno's final scene. I'm sorry for those disappointed but I think film viewing is best when you throw out all prejudgment.
Expected waaay more action and got a romance. Good movie just not what I was expecting.
An average action-thriller as far as I am concerned.
Yes, we know it's an unorthodox romance film - yes, it's got Oldman in fine form ("I DO NOT HAVE TIIMUH FOR THIS MICKEY MOUSE BULLSHIT" / "EEEEEVRRRRYYYYYYOOOOOOONE") - but that just ain't 'nough to save this one. Barely above the "worth watching" benchmark. ★★.5
great movie but why did it have to end with a sting song?
The relationship between Reno and Portman was a bit akward(creepy) at times, but otherwise the film was enjoyable.
Una película que sin duda alguna puedo ver las veces que sea. El estilo de Natalie Portman mi inspiración, lovely...
After watching this obsessively in my youth, it's encouraging to return and find the elements I loved completely untarnished by time. The wholly broken characters, the innocence and developing trust and the stark violence give this otherwise lightweight film gravitas. Elements I didn't appreciate earlier - ice-cool camera work, blossoming sexuality and forbidden love, Danny Aiello - make me very glad I came back.
Theatrical Cut > Directors Cut
Epic. When the Sting song comes in the end... just shivers.
Gary Oldman is awesome in this.
One of my absolute favorit movies!
Absolute perfection. Everything I want in a movie. Every time I see it.
