Legendary poet, singer/songwriter and alleged ladies man Leonard Cohen is interviewed in his L.A. home about his extraordinary life and times, interspersed with old footage from his private photo collection and lavish praise, plus elaborately performed Cohen cover songs from a motley crew of colleague musicians; Kate & Anna McGarrigle, Rufus & Martha Wainwright, Nick Cave, Jarvis Cocker and U2’s Bono and The Edge. By way of dessert the latter two and their band mates even get to back up the man for a special performance of his own. —IMDB
A fairly good performance film of a tribute concert to Leonard Cohen shot in Sydney in 2005 made more interesting by commentary and clips by/of Mr. Cohen himself. Good mix of performers with Antony, Martha Wainwright and Julie Christensen coming off best. Interesting comment by Cohen musing about touring again some years before the amazing tour that followed that put every performance in this film to shame.
Bono Vox definitely doesn't belong in this movie. Neither his fake plastic smile and stylish haircut deserves to stand in front of great Leonard.
That's the interesting thing about what people do and say and how they're viewed aside from what they say and do. You could either interpret it as him "getting in touch" with a Jewish figure, or perhaps he has a genuine fondness for the guy. Either way, it's a good question.
