What? There's no way his voice-overs would take away from anything
Would be Herzog's ultimate masterpiece... had he not decided to do voice-over narration.
Among the things that I like to see in a film there are: 'conquistadores' and oil. Now try to guess why I love Herzog so much...
My favorite of all of Herzog's work. Alternately harrowing and strangely beautiful.
A companion piece to Fata Morgana, Lessons of Darkness is an experimental documentary in the vein of docs like Koyaanisqatsi and Baraka. Darkness may fall short compared to those two, but it sure packs a wallop for its 52 minute running time.
Elemental look into real life Apocalypse. All hope ends in a final scene where the fires are reignited, ultimately showing the need for destruction in those who are purported to save us.
Beautiful and mesmerizing. I leave it on as a screensaver so I can look up and watch a fountain of oil burning against a desert skyline. Why is this so interesting to look at?
