Thanks for liking my review and point of view. We all need to see more good movies.
Ken Watanabe's performance is beyond words, and the score is a deeply reflective, haunting work of art on its own.
A truly memorable and compassionate piece. Eastwood shows us the humanity of people who were once our "enemies." He handles this difficult subject with style and respect, and delivers an emotional, enveloping tale of men pushed to their brink.
Loved Ken Watanabe's performance. However, I think this movie needed to be much more horrific to show what the battle of Iwo Jima was actually like.
This movie is about war but wasn't showed much in gunfire bloody actions but instead told the stories about the affects of war on the people involved, giving the exquisite insight into the human condition. In this case, as told from the Japanese perspectives who fought it. I thought it was done well with feelings. It felt like it was not made to impress the viewers but to make a real statement.
When we go to war we tend to demonize our enemy to less than human terms. After all we are sent to fight and kill our enemy without remorse. On a more personal level there is not that much difference between the emotions and feelings of the individual soldier. They are sent by their country and torn away from there families and everything familiar to defend there homeland and honor. “Letters from Iwo Jima” is a revealing and heartwrenching indictment of the inhumanity of wars nature.
nino-kun is breath-taking.. kyaaaaaaa!!!!! oh no this is not one of those crazy fangirling-forum -__-"
