A choreography of geometric forms – bright, curved or rounded – pulse towards the centre of the screen, one at a time, against a dark background. Consisting of 10.000 separately coloured images, Ruttmann’s “Opus 1” is considered the first fully abstract, ‘absolute’, cinematic work.
