Synopsis

With the Earth running short of natural energy resources the Jupiter mission to colonize and exploit Alpha Prime seems to be the only chance of survival. Professor John Robinson (‘William Hurt’ ) together with his wife Maureen, his family and fighter pilot Don West (lead a desperate attempt to create a Hyper-Gate in orbit around the planet Alpha Prime to enable the rescue of Earth to begin. However, others have different reasons for reaching Alpha Prime and Dr. Smith sabotages the Jupiter 2 but fails to get clear and becomes an unwelcome stowaway aboard the ship. To escape the gravitational pull of the sun the Hyper-Drive is fired and the Jupiter 2, after a trip through hyperspace, emerges into a completely unknown part of the galaxy. A search of the star charts reveals that they are completely lost in an uncharted sector of space but this is only the beginning of their problems… —IMDb

Stephen Hopkins

Stephen Hopkins (born in 1958) is a Jamaican-born film director and producer. He is best-known for his continuation of the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise with A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child and the Predator franchise with Predator 2. His highest grossing film however was the 1998 film adaption of the TV series Lost in Space.

He was born in Jamaica and was raised in Australia and England. He was educated at Sutton Valence School.

In 2004, Hopkins directed the controversial biopic The Life and Death of Peter Sellers which raised the ire of the actor’s son Michael Sellers.

Hopkins was a co-executive producer for the first season of the Fox action drama 24, and also directed half of the season’s episodes, including the first and last episodes. —Wikipedia
