Laila Marrakchi was born in Casablanca, Morocco in 1975. She holds an MA in Film and Video Studies at the University Paris III, she was assistant director on several films, and in 2001 she made her first short film, The Lost Horizon. She is married to Alexander Aja. —Africultures
