Sean Durkin’s short film Mary Last Seen premiered at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival before going on to win the Prix SFR at the Directors’ Fortnight at the 2010 Cannes International Film Festival. Martha Marcy May Marlene, Durkin’s first feature film, was selected for the 2010 Sundance Institute Screenwriters and Directors Labs. Works better if you see Martha Maycy May Marlene beforehand. I feel there could be more story. Some aspects would have been great to have it been included in the feature.
Re: last sentence: like the process of inducing the girls into their group. Also, The more I think about it, the more I like it. Not perfect, but intriguing.
I remember seeing this one in Cannes, two years ago. It was good, especially the scene on the bridge, but the end was a bit disappointing. Good though.
