i should write my next film essay about film episodes featuring unstable women and cacti (in a decision making scene (kramer vs kramer) almendros rhymed meryl streep with a cactus, melinda in a breakdown scene is standing near a giant multibranched cactus tree)

I agree with ''indie cool'' the movie has an interesting concept, it could have been a good movie, but ought of various changes.

Interesting concept that failed to execute. Will Ferrell had a few pleasant moments playing the "Woody Allen" character as did Wallace Shawn. However, the rest of the performances, especially in the dramatic portion of the film, lacked the punch found in most of Allen's films. This film suffers from poor casting, possibly due to a tight budget. A rare misfire from a legendary director.
