Mezon do Himiko is the second collaboration between director, Isshin Inudo, and screenwriter Aya Watanabe (their first being the singular Josee, the Tiger and the Fish), and tells the tale of a young woman, who returns home to take care of her estranged gay father, who has suddenly taken ill whilst running a nursing home for gay seniors. She initially agrees to the work solely for the prospect of employment, swallowing her distaste for her father’s lifestyle and anger at his abandonment of her family. But as the summer progresses, she slowly comes to understand both the happiness her father found, and which he in turn provides to his ailing guests. —Dreamlogic.net
