Søren Kragh-Jacobsen

Born 1947, Danmark. Composer, song-writer, film director. Attended film school in Prague. Programme director for a number of years at DR TV. While his works from the eighties and nineties brought him a large Danish audience, they also brought him international renown. Kragh-Jacobsen is one of the Dogme brothers, in the company of Trier, Vinterberg and Levring.

Kragh-Jacobsen’s children’s classic »Gummi-Tarzan«/»Rubber Tarzen« (1981) was a winner at Moscow, Berlin and Gijon. »Skyggen af Emma«/»Emma’s Shadow« (1988) and »Drengene fra Sankt Petri«/»The Boys from St. Petri« (1991) were also successful on the festival circuit, while »Øen i fuglegaden«/»The Island on Bird Street« (1997) received numerous accolades at festivals, including Berlin. Two years later his dogme feature »Mifunes sidste sang«/»Mifune« (1999) received the Berlin Silver Bear. Among his prestigious awards is the Memorial Francois Truffaut Award from Giffoni. La otra cara de Dogma. La primer cinta del movimiento que, afortunadamente, no tiene el sello Dogma (cámara esquizofrénica) impreso en cada cuadro. En contraste, la intensidad y energía se encuentra en la interacción de los actores y no en la cámara masturbadora. MIFUNE carece de la tensión psicológica de FESTEN y de la austeridad de IDIOTERN, pero cuenta con un simpático y entretenido romanticismo. Quien no ha tratado de imitar, por lo menos una vez, al legendario Toshiro Mifune agarrado un palo de escoba y tirando sablazos a diestra y siniestra. A pesar de estos atributos MIFUNE no descubre nada nuevo y no propone retos mayores dentro del contexto Dogma. Buena para un dominguito con la pareja.
