An old man in dressing gown and slippers is abandoned by his family on an area of highway while on vacation. He later finds himself in a hospital where a nurse, Gégène, calls him Mischka. The carer offers to take him home with her. This is an opportunity for him to meet Jane, the teenage runaway, and Joli-Coeur, the rocker, and rediscover life when he is about to give up.
