Phenomenal. There’s Camp in it of course, but the movie’s main draw is Faye Dunaway’s incredible OTT performance as Joan Crawford. Almost every other aspect of the film is competent but usually no more (or less), resembling an updated version of one of Crawford’s old Hollywood vehicles. But Faye Dunaway stomps through the film like Toshiro Mifune or perhaps Godzilla creating mise en scène through sheer destructive vitality. Even if this film had destroyed her Hollywood career, I’m sure Zulawski could have found a role for her.
