To me this is the greatest rock and roll film ever made. Pennebaker does a superlative job of capturing the music and the spirit of the time. It was the first major appearance for many of these rock stars, and includes a heart wrenching rendition of "Ball and Chain" by Janis Joplin which steals the show, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhBFRNBxT_o
Otis Redding's performance is quite simply the most transcendental live performance I've ever seen. Awe-inspiring and beautiful.
The twenty minute sitar jam at the end of the film is indeed worth standing ovation, but, especially with today's attention spans, is very arduous to get through, especially sober. This film stands as a great monument to an era, one in which I wish I were around to have participated in.
Thanks for making this available, I see the atmosphere that the place had, the harmony and ll the good vibes, not to mention the fashion and last but not least the amazing music experienced in the 60's, wish i would have lived it.. and janis oh janis, simply amazing..
an amazing document of an amazing event. and you SHOULD be proud of the picture quality. wow. thank you.
Though there isn't much to the film itself, the music is so beautiful and makes the film immortal.
