still very bad for a comment that is old 15+ days.
Amiable nonsense and not much more than arsing about. However it’s structurally quite playful with cinematic conventions – the opening inter-titles, the extended black-screen ending, etc. and has a silly charm – although Life of Brian is more satisfying on most levels – with the absurdist scenarios amusing in fits and starts. The feeling of filmed end-of-term revue never quite leave the mind. A jolly canter.
This is my favourite film. It is simply hilarious. Not many films can get away with absolute lunacy but Monty Pythons films always do.
A real classic of absurd British comedy! It's amazing how you don't need a big budget to create a good and enjoyable film! Not to be taken seriously but with a big laugh.
"Bravely bold Sir Robin rode forth from Camelot. He was not afraid to die, O brave Sir Robin. He was not at all afraid to be killed in nasty ways. Brave, brave, brave, brave Sir Robin..." One of the LOL moments ^_^
I thought Monty Python's "and now for something completely different" was 100% better, I only semi-enjoyed this film. It didn't even keep me amused long enough to finish it,
Absurdity at its finest. The best part of all is that nothing is accomplished at the very end.
“Oh, but you can't expect to wield supreme executive power just because some watery tart threw a sword at you”—so many great lines, so little time.
I just learned this the other day, but when the french knight says "kaniggit," he is actually making fun of the olde english way of pronouncing ever single consonant. That's genius.
