Based on the childhood memoirs of Marcel Pagnol, author of Jean de Florette and Manon des sources, La gloire de mon père and its sequel Le château de ma mère are two of the greatest and most successful French films ever made.
An adult Marcel nostalgically recalls one idyllic summer spent with his family in the hills of Provence. A love affair with the country began and during those perfect days he found new respect for his school-teacher father as he adapted to life away from the city.
La gloire de mon père is filled with warmth, humour and love for bygone days of youth. It is one of cinema’s finest celebrations of childhood. –Second Sight

Paisagens bucólicas do interior da França, personagens íntegras, tudo é pura beleza. Parece um filme de ficção que se passa em um outro mundo onde tudo é perfeito. Inspirador!
the story of this both movies ("LE CHÂTEAU DE MA MÈRE" us part2) is not extraordinary great, the young boy, which is playing the main role maybe too "beauty" and sometimes annoying melodramatic, but the pictures are beautiful. a nice movie to relax, to think about your own childhood. maybe not a movie to list at your favs, but it's anyway felicious. a movie to feel the holidays of past times. part1 slightly better, part2 a well made addon with a nice and interesting ending. watch them both - or: part1. as i've written already: beautiful (and melancholic)
